The White Paper on &ldqou;A Global Platform for Monitoring Marine Litter and Informing Action” provided a basis for the UNEP Marine Debris Platform that is under development. At the same time, the Integrated Marine Debris Observing System (IMDOS) has been proposed. The white paper will be summarize, the status of the UNEP Platform will be reviewed, and the concept of IMDOS will be discussed. The discussion will focus on the interaction of the broader marine debris community with the platform and IMDOS.
